About MeMy name is Joy Klaue. I grew up in Surrey , British Columbia, on a hobby farm with a large family. I enjoyed milking cows, doing stunts on my trampoline, playing field hockey and riding my bike on country roads. As a teenager and young adult, I worked with youth at summer camps, youth groups, and at church. I received my BEd at SFU with a triple minor in English, Psychology, and Early Childhood Education (Primary Grades). I taught K-4 in the Surrey Public School District for 10 years part-time before moving up to the Cariboo. I lived in the Williams Lake, BC area teaching grade 2/3 in a Christian School. From 2013 to 2017, I taught grade 4 and 5 at CRCS on Vancouver Island. I am now enjoying an opportunity to teach in the beautiful Canadian prairies! In addition to classroom teaching, I enjoy coaching elementary cross-country running and directing children’s choirs.
It is my goal to create a classroom environment where all students feel safe, loved, challenged, and a vital part of the group. I like to discover where students are at in their academic journey and then push them to be the best that they can be, to build confidence and self-esteem through hard work and success. I believe that school should be interesting, challenging, interactive, include a variety of learning experiences, and it should be fun! I love being excited about what we are learning because I know that my enthusiasm will be contagious! Besides being a teacher, I am a mom of 4 grown offspring and 4 beautiful grandbabies. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, crochet and cross-stitching, playing the piano, and participating in athletics like kayaking, biking, walking, swimming, and being outdoors. I dream about visiting my family spread over the world! |
